Dear Community.

In the last month we have had the great privilege of putting Morgan on the bus at the end of our driveway... most of the time.

We have also come to realize that there are people driving excessively fast to get to the boat. My kids have been scared a few times... and we almost all felt like all jumping over the snowbank to get out of the way....

I have given this a lot of thought... I know what it feels like to feel like you are going to miss the boat and be late to work... Its an awful feeling... At the same time, I think about my kids standing at the end of the driveway waiting for the bus, and what if the unimaginable happened? What if your car slipped? What if, on impulse, one of our kids entered the road while someone was barreling down the hill at 60 mph (That is not an exaggeration).

I know a lot of people live down dirt roads, a lot of people drive their kids to school... and a lot of pick ups at the end of driveways aren't right at boat time.... But I continue to worry about the fast driving...

I also know that, come spring, a lot of kids will be riding their bikes to school, some kids will be waiting on their own, more people will be walking and running on the road, and it should be a safe place for everyone.

I beg you to really think about speeding.... Please try to plan ahead. We don't want anyone to get hit or run over.

I have been doing my best to never exceed 30 MPH and I encourage everyone else to do the same... I know it is hard, but it will be a lot harder if our community has to endure a tragedy due to a speeding vehicle.

Thanks
Carrie
